2011 Covi SuperShow review

Visitors were queuing up at the gate on the first day of the Covi Motorhome Caravan and Outdoor SuperShow (9 - 11 Sept) - and they weren't disappointed!

Best of breed brands such as KEA, Trail Lite, Motek (the new name for Ci Munro and THL), UCC and many others took the opportunity to unveil exciting new products at the show, much to the delight of everyone there.

The new Oxford charmed all

A modern twist on a classic favourite - the Oxford caravan - was launched at Friday's show, to a very apt 1950s theme. Jive music, dancers, and '50s inspired food set the scene for the unveiling of the caravan's new design by Motek. And by the end of the show, the company had already taken orders for this vintage model and plenty of leads.

New motorhomes ...

KEA too was delighted with the response to its two new products - the Origin and Inspiration - having sold one of these within just a few hours of the show opening!

...and new attractions

The Bluebridge Stop 'n' Stay zone - new for 2011 - proved to be a major hit amongst show visitors.

People were drawn to this area which featured many of New Zealand's top visitor attractions, destinations and places to stay. Here, exhibitors generously offered great prizes including a week in Otago.

Hundreds at NZMCA rally next-door

The New Zealand Motor Caravan Association's (www.nzmca.org.nz) rally next door at Alexandra Park accommodated more than 700 motorhomes, really adding to the atmosphere (as did the news that the All Blacks had won their first match of Rugby World Cup 2011, beating Tonga 41-10).

Bargains galore!

Many exhibitors stepped up and offered amazing show specials. Visitors looking for a bargain were not disappointed, especially the winners of the No Reserve Auctions which ran each day. In fact South Auckland Motorhomes and Caravans sold a brand new six berth Jayco Camper Trailer to the highest bidder - who successfully saved themselves more than $12,000 off the asking price.

KEA winner announced

The pinnacle of the three-day show came on Sunday afternoon when the winner of the gate prize - a luxurious KEA six berth camper for a year - was announced. Congratulations to Verleene and Chris Robertson (pictured here with Chris Gaskell (left, from Spot On Exhibitions, organiser of the Covi SuperShow) and Steve Lane, National Sales Manager from KEA, far right) from Whangarei who are already making plans for their inaugural motorhome trip.Read their reaction.

In summary, the three days of the Covi SuperShow stayed true to its name - super!
